There is no line that separates the mentally healthy from the unhealthy. Realistically, the entire population exists along a spectrum that includes chemical imbalances in our brains. we do know that the right amount of sleep and exercise and a proper diet and proper medical care is very important. It is very essential for improving both our physical and mental wellbeings.
Causes of Mental Illness
In contrast most, people believe that mental disorders are rare. Most noteworthy, mental disorders are common in our society. Studies show that 1 in 5 adults suffer from mental illness. Furthermore,54 million Americans are diagnosed with some form of mental disorder every year.
Mental illness is a disease that causes mild to severe disturbances in thought or behaviors. There are more than 200 classified forms of mental illness. Some of the more common forms of mental illness are depression, anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, dementia, and schizophrenia. Symptoms may include changes in mood, personality, personal habits or social withdrawal.
Behavioral health problems may be related to excessive stress due to a particular situation. As with cancer, diabetes and heart disease, mental illnesses are often physical as well as emotional and psychological. Mental illnesses are a result of the reaction to environmental stresses, genetic factors, biochemical imbalances, or a combination of other factors.So, with proper care and treatment, many individuals learn to cope or recover from a mental illness or emotional disorder.
